Dear Aggies,

We understand that the outbreak and spread of the Coronavirus is concerning to all travelers, and we want to assure you that we are working to make informed decisions about Texas A&M Education Abroad programs. We are currently monitoring the situation with our global partners and have consulted our international insurance provider, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the TAMU Risk Management Office for guidance. Our international partners are closely watching local situations, and taking all necessary measures to ensure campus communities are as protected as possible.

We have not decided to cancel the spring semester programs currently in progress in countries that do not have a CDC Coronavirus Travel notice. We have not canceled any summer programs at this time. However, we have decided to cancel spring break trips and spring programs that have not yet departed to countries with the CDC Level 2 or 3 Travel Notice. The decision to cancel the spring is due to the WHO recommendation that travelers to Level 2and 3 countries should self-quarantine upon return to the U.S.

The Texas A&M University System has suspended all university travel to China, Italy, and South Korea, including study abroad programs. Students in those countries have been asked to return to the U.S.

The Education Abroad leadership team will continue to provide updates to our current and future participants and their emergency contacts. We will follow best practices and official guidance and will do our best to share new information as it is available to us. We will do everything possible to meet the needs of our students and to help them to achieve the goals of their education abroad programs.

We will continue to communicate with students, families, and faculty regarding the situation. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions.
